CPC wins ‘Best Digital Bank’ at AIB Build A Bank Regional Finals

On Friday the 6th of March Millionopoly Banking from Cross and Passion attended the Regional Build A Bank Finals in Leopardstown, writes the project's PRO Donna Carpenter. We were all nervous and excited about the finals, and unsure of what to expect. Everybody in school wished us the best of luck before we went to Leopardstown with Ms O’ Malley.

When we arrived it looked like we were moving house, with the amount of things we had with us! But of course we came with our bank mascot Billy the Banking Bear! During the morning the format of the competition was explained to us. We were told we had ten minutes with a junior judge, two minutes with a head judge and then one minute with a person from coderdojo.

We had half an hour to set up our stall and get dressed into our monopoly themed costumes. At this stage, we were feeling pretty nervous but we had a group huddle and went over everything again before judging time. When the judges came over to us, all aspects of our bank were explained like our community outreach, sponsorship, channels of efficiency, our theme and technology.

The awards ceremony was at the end of the day, and we won Best Digital Bank! This means we are through to the National Finals in the RDS in a month’s time. We were all so shocked about winning this award, but we were told that we are the bank that has the biggest digital reach. At the moment the bank is striving to get an even bigger digital presence across social media sites. So if you could like our Facebook or Twitter pages that would be greatly appreciated!

We would like to thank everybody who has supported us throughout the competition. A big thanks to all the generous businesses that sponsored us and especially our student officer Aisling and our teacher Ms O’ Malley.
