Reaching milestone 80

Former Scoil Bhride Principal Brian Keyes will be celebrating his 80th birthday this coming weekend with a family get-together, writes Brian Byrne.

Brian retired in March 1999 after serving 42 years as a teacher in Scoil Bhride. He then set out to spend his retirement on his other love, farming.

Over his active years in Kilcullen he was associated with many aspects of community life. He was involved in the Kilcullen Drama Group, Kilcullen Credit Union, Kilcullen Community Council and the Kilcullen Heritage Group. He was also one of the founder group of the Bridge magazine, and his regular historical articles laid a foundation record for Kilcullen's heritage and development from earliest times.
