Footpath restoration begins tomorrow
Work is to begin tomorrow on restoring the footpath that crosses from the Community Centre car park to the main road at Nicholastown, following clarification from the Cross & Passion order on ownership, writes Brian Byrne.
Development levies of €27,000 towards the work were paid by Scoil Bhride in relation to the extension to the school which is currently under construction.
The path is much used by local people walking to and from the Centre campus, and it has been in a very dangerous state of repair for a number of years. It is also an important short cut to Scoil Bhride for those who walk to the school, and for parents and toddlers going to the new Community Childcare Centre.
Following local representation, engineering staff from Kildare County Council attended a meeting on site in mid-September with residents and councillors, and Scoil Bhride management, with a view to costing the work and determining a timeline to proceed with it. The matter had earlier been raised at a meeting of Naas MD.
The rapid progress of the matter will be much welcomed.
