Badminton update
A relatively quiet week this week in the SW League with only four matches to report, writes Enda O'Neill, PRO of Kilcullen Badminton Club.
First out were Helens Grade 4 ladies who were away to Annacurra, Helen and her team are currently top of their group table. Ladies 2 secured a semi final spot by beating Annacurra 4-0 in a fantasic match. Helen, Chelsey,Sarah and Rachel now have to wait to see who their opponents will be in the semi final. Good luck to Helen and her team and well done to the ladies in reaching the semi final.
Mens 2 were away in their final group match against the local rivals St Laurences. Mens 2 had already secured a semi final spot and topped the table, Enda and the team kept the momentum going with a decent 2-2 draw and with this draw kept their unbeaten record in the League. The lads now await to see who they will meet in the semi finals. Well done again to the lads.
Wednesday 12 November saw Darren and his Mens 1 team away to Kilkennys Johnswell. A 2-2 draw might not be enough to get the lads into a semi as they are waiting other results but third spot is guarantee. In truth its been a great first season for the lads playing at such a high level so credit is due to Darren, Murt, Gareth and Dave.
Finally captain Lynsey and her team were away to Portarlington in a tough Ladies 1 grade 2 SW League match. After loosing the first two games the team showed great heart and trashed out a 2-2 draw, credit to Lynsey, Norrie, Karen and Sinead in a well deserved draw.
