Kilcullen Badminton update

There are four matches to report on this week as KBC started its South West League competition, writes Enda O'Neill, PRO of Kilcullen Badminton Club.

First out was Grade 2 Ladies captained by Norrie who played Ballinkillen at home on Tuesday night. Unfortunatley it wasn’t the dream start that the girls were looking for and the were comprehensively beaten 4-0 by the league favourates. Hard luck to Norrie, Karen, Sinead and Caroline.

Grade 4 Mens played Killoughey away on Wednesday in their first league outing and managed to grab a 2-2 draw in a difficult venue. Well done to Fintan, Vincent, sub John and Enda.

Grade 6 Ladies captained by Meave had a great win at home to St Laurences, beating the rivals 4-0. This is a great result and Meave's team are the first this season to win a match without dropping a set, well done to Meave and her team mates Emer, Orla and Denise.

Grade 6 Mens also played away to Bough on Wednesday night. This was young Ben Phelans first competitive league match as a senoir player and gave a great account of himself. Captain Olivier and the lads managed to secure a 2-2 draw another good away result. Again well played to Olivier, Keith, Dave and Ben.

Next week sees another busy week for the club with Grade 2, 4 and 6 mens and Grade 4 ladies all playing league matches, good luck to all involved. Also the Juvenile club will be training as usual in the Community Centre (Complex!) on Saturday morning from 10am to 12 noon and all new faces volunteer and player are welcome!
