Castlemartin sale launched today
Castlemartin House and Stud is formally launched on the market for sale today with an asking price of €30m, writes Brian Byrne.
The property is expected to gather strong interest from potential buyers around the world, including Asia. It comprises 750 acres of stud and woodlands, as well as a restored medieval church.
The joint agents for the sale are Jordan Town and Country Estates and Knight Frank.
The house and original 240 acres was bought in 1973 by businessman Tony O'Reilly, who restored the almost derelict property and added to it in subsequent decades. It was the principal Irish home for Dr O'Reilly, later Sir Anthony, and his family.
The sale follows a Commercial Court judgment for €22.6 million in favour of AIB in June.
