Kilcullen GAA gets Sports Capital Grant funding
Last month Kilcullen GAA was delighted to receive the news that they had been awarded a sports capital grant in the amount of €100,000, writes Club Development Officer Martin Murphy. This is excellent news for the club and is the first major step towards achieving one of our long standing ambitions to install match standard floodlights at the main pitch.
A lot of hard work still needs to be completed for us to bring this plan to fruition. In order for us to draw down this grant funding a number of strict criteria must be met. The funding can only be used towards providing floodlights and all works must be fully completed and paid for in order to draw down the funding. A committee has been formed to oversee the project and to ensure that all of these criteria are met.
Although we have secured the sports capital grant this only covers 75% of the overall cost of installing the floodlights. To complete the project, the club will also need to raise in excess of €30,000. It is hoped that this money will be raised through various fundraising activities in the local community over the coming months and next year.
The floodlighting, once installed, will be available for use by all club members from juvenile to senior level and will be a huge asset for the club for many years to come. We also expect that this body of work will generate some business for the local community
The club wishes to thank the various organisations throughout the town that have helped with this project to date and look forward to working with other local organisations to ensure the successful completion of this project.
