Theft and mugging in Kilcullen
People in Kilcullen should be aware of a number of disturbing incidents in the last week, writes Brian Byrne.
The most recent is the bogus caller to a house in St Brigid's Avenue yesterday by a man claiming to be a Council worker checking the water system. The householder let him in, and afterwards found her purse missing.
The fact that there are Council works ongoing in the area made the caller's access believable, especially since there had been a water outage from that work.
Last week a woman in the same area had her bag stolen by a man who accosted her around teatime, and knocked her to the ground. He escaped in a car with a yellow rear registration plate.
Watch out for yourself, and for your neighbours.
