'Pink Tie' cancer support gig tonight
A cancer support charity event in O'Connell's Bar tonight has been organised in aid of Aoibheann's Pink Tie by Louise O'Gorman of Newberry, Castlemartin Lodge, writes Brian Byrne.
Louise is hosting the night as Stella & Dot, a ladies fashion and accessories supplier. The night is themed as a Cupcakes and Cocktails night, and every penny raised goes to the charity.
Aoibheann’s Pink Tie is a charity that gives practical support to the families of children attending St John’s Oncology Ward in Our Lady’s Hospital for Sick Children, Crumlin. It was set up by Aoibheann Norman's father Jimmy Norman, in the wake of her death from cancer in 2011. Aoibheann was seven years old when she died.
The support offered is for families of children up to the age of 16 suffering from all kinds of cancer. It includes such help as filling of household oil, replacing household appliances, supply of mattresses and pillows, respite weekends, tickets to shows, and gift packs to sick children.
The foundation is run by volunteers, with no salaries being paid. Further details are available on the Irish Cancer Society website.
