Where is 'Homeward'?

The question of where is the 'Homeward' sculpture planned for installation in the Valley Park was raised at the recent meeting of Kilcullen Community Action.

Brian Byrne said the last communication from Kildare County Council was in mid-March, when he had been told that tenders for the installation of the piece were 'in preparation'.

The piece by renowned sculptor Eamonn O'Doherty was originally to be located near Kilgowan as part of the Percent for Art scheme for public works like motorways, but the decision to put it in Kilcullen had been taken because of the thefts of similar sculptural pieces around the country for their scrap metal value.

A query on the current status of the project will be made to Kildare County Council.
