Badminton update

A number of our Club members took part in two separate tournaments that were ran on Saturday 14 June and Monday16 June, writes Enda O'Neill, PRO of Kilcullen Badminton Club.

Monday's Battle of the Boyne tournament was hosted and coordinated by Boyne Badminton Club and our Kilcullen pairings of Lynsey Walsh and Sarah Walshe were beaten in the semi finals of the Grade 3 ladies doubles section. KBCs other ladies pairing of Norrie Gilchrist and Sinead Kelly were also beaten in the Semi Finals of the Grade 3 ladies doubles. It was so close to being an all Kilcullen Final! Well done to the girls on their great performance.

KBC player Nicole Danaher competed in the PBAI Tournament on Saturday 14 June and did brilliantly winning the Section C mixed doubles with partner on the day Satteesh Narayanan. Well done Nicole. The lads are going to have to get themselves in gear as the girls are really showing us all up!!!

This week I caught up with Sarah Walshe and asked her a few quick questions for the player profile slot and this is what she had to say for herself.

Sarah what is your favourite movie? (Full Metal Jacket.) Favourite colour? (Yellow.) Favourite badminton player? (My Dad Fintan — he taught me everything I know about badminton.) Artist most listened to on your I-pod? (Pasty Cline.) What was your highlight of last season? (When I was runner up in the over 35’s Irish Masters.) What was the first concert you were ever at? (Garth Brooks.) Finally Sarah, which was your favourite concert? (Oh that’s a tough one, REM in Slane in 1995.)
