Osberstown upgrade 'to benefit Kilcullen'

A €33m upgrade of the Osberstown Waste Water Treatment Plant will be of benefit to growth and development in Kilcullen, according to Kildare South FG TD Martin Heydon.

In a statement yesterday, the Deputy welcomed the confirmation from John Tierney, MD of Irish Water, that funding has been granted for the upgrading, with works to commence shortly.

"This upgrade will provide for an increase in the population capacity of the treatment plant, from 80,000 to 130,000," Deputy Heydon says. "This will facilitate an already expanding industrial, domestic and commercial population in the local area. The new system will cater for a higher number of businesses as well as residential developments, which will allow a focus on jobs development and growth in the area which is much needed."
