The passing of Frank O'Reilly

The Diary has learned of the death of Frank O'Reilly, pharmacist, of Naas.

It might be that there are a number of the older people in Kilcullen would remember that before he set up on his own, he worked in what was then O'Connells Chemists in the town (now Bernard Berneys). At the time the pharmacy was owned by the late Dr Dan O'Connell. Frank's brother John Joe O'Reilly, a famous footballer in the family's home County Cavan, was an army officer on The Curragh, and introduced Frank to Dr Dan. He worked in Kilcullen in the early 50s, and also played for the town's GAA team himself. He also met his late wife in Kilcullen, a former student at CPC.

For those who would like to know the funeral arrangements, Frank's removal from his home on the Kilcullen Road, Naas, will take place tomorrow Monday at 9.30am, arriving at the Church of Our Lady and St David, Naas, for Requiem Mass at 10. Burial will take place afterwards in St Corban's Cemetery, Naas.

Family flowers only, please. Donations, if desired, to the Friends of Naas General Hospital.

May he rest in peace.
