Commuters affected by JJ Kavanagh changes
A number of changes to the JJ Kavanagh Waterford to Dublin services starting on Monday next will affect Kilcullen users of the line, writes Brian Byrne.
The changes are to facilitate faster journey times on some services between Waterford and the capital, which will mean Castledermot, Crookstown, Kilcullen and Naas being bypassed.
The company has dropped altogether the northbound service that stopped at Kilcullen at 2.15pm, and also the one that stopped at 10.15pm. The bus that used to stop in Kilcullen at 5.15am will now leave at the earlier time of 5.05am. The 8.20am and the 10.25pm services will no longer run, while the 11.40am service will leave earlier at 11.25am.
The 3.45pm northbound will now leave at 3.25pm, and the 7.20pm a little later at 7.30pm.
The southbound service leaving Dublin at 12.55am will now leave earlier at 11.40pm, arriving in Kilcullen at 12.50am. The bus formerly leaving Dublin at 7.15pm will no longer go through Kilcullen, so commuters have no Kavanagh bus from the city between 6pm and 9pm. The service that used to leave Dublin at 11.15pm has been removed entirely.
The 4.15pm service from Dublin will now leave at 4.30pm, arriving in Kilcullen at 5.25pm.
The Clonmel service provides northbound buses at 3.15am, 7.25am, 9.30am, 12.45pm, 4.34pm and 7pm. Southbound services on the line leave Dublin at 6.45am, 10.45am, 2pm, 5.45pm, 9pm and 11.30pm.
