Good bats population in Kilcullen

Include largest bat species in IrelandFive of the 11 species of bats found in Ireland can be found in Kilcullen, according to the Biodiversity Survey of the Liffey and Environs in Kilcullen, writes Brian Byrne.

The Survey details the kind and features of the ones found here, noting that one of them is the largest bat in Ireland, the Leisler's bat.

A Bat Walk was one of the 'Wild Weekend' events held last year as part of the public involvement in the Survey, which also offers hints to keeping the area bat-friendly.
