National Museum talk on Dun Ailinne
Forgotten hub of Leinster powerA talk on Dun Ailinne — Forgotten Home of the Leinster Kings will take place in the National Museum, Kildare St, Dublin on Saturday 20 July.
The lunchtime event will begin at 12 noon and will last for an hour.
It is being given by archaeologist Padraig Clancy who will discuss the physical evidence for this forgotten hub of power and how later power struggles obscured its importance.
The talk venue is located in the Ceramics Room on the first floor. No booking is required. The location is not wheelchair accessible.
The complex is thought to have been home to some of the most powerful characters in Iron Age and Early Christian Ireland and a seat of the Kings of Leinster.
There will also be a visit to the actual site on 25 of August, during National Heritage Week, courtesy of the landowners Robert and Adrienne Thompson.
