Heritage: Views of the Liffey from the past

In times gone byLooking back, these two pictures courtesy of Nial McDonnell show the Liffey from downstream of the bridge, writes Brian Byrne. Note how the postcard view from the Liffeybank front garden shows the church and the Parish House above the Valley.

The one above, obviously taken after the weir was broken, shows that there was very little of the riverbank growth on Nugent's Field that is now a feature of the nature trail established by Bridge Camphill.

These will become part of the Kilcullen Heritage Pictures Collection on the web, which is being set up. All contributions appreciated.
