Council 'can't afford footpath restoration'

Kildare Councty Council says it can't give any timeline for the restoration of the footpath at Hillcrest, writes Brian Byrne.

That was the response from Sonya Kavanagh, KCC Roads & Transport Department, to a request from Cllr Fintan Brett at this afternoon's meeting of the Naas Area Committee (which has responsibility for some of the northern part of Kilcullen).

Ms Kavanagh said there are currently insufficient funds available for the restoration of this footpath, and so a time for the work can't be given.

She also told the meeting that the National Roads Authority has been given a report on flooding issues on the Kilcullen by-pass. This outlines the nature of the works and the cost.
