Remember, today is 'Miscellany Day'
Just a reminder that today is Miscellany on Sunday day, when the cream of local music and drama talent will gather at Bermingham's of Mooretown for an afternoon of craic, company, chat and contribution of donations in a good cause, writes Brian Byrne.
It is pretty well agreed that the annual event is now the official start of Christmas in the Kilcullen area, and the traditional mulled wine and mince pies represent just a part of the seasonal offerings.
But much more is the chance for lots of local people to gather in a traditional Irish open house, old friends to meet up maybe for the first time in a while. It's an occasion too to make new friends as the entertainment circulates between several rooms in the Bermingham family home.
This year, the proceedings are in aid of Fr John Bermingham, son of Phena and the late Tom Bermingham. In May of this year he travelled to Mozambique to begin the new Redemptorist Mission in that country, with colleague Fr Brian Holmes from Cork.
It's a shift in focus for the 'Miscellany', which over the last dozen years has raise some €70,000 for the Michael Garry House in Newbridge.
See you there. Fun starts at 2pm.
