The passing of Hugh Peacocke

The Diary has learned with a deep personal sadness which will be shared right across the community, of the death of Hugh Peacocke of St Brigid's Avenue.

To Sheila and their children and all the extended family we offer our condolences.

Hugh will be reposing at his residence all day Thursday. His funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday at 12 noon in the Church of the Sacred Heart and St Brigid, and burial will follow afterwards in St Brigid's Cemetery.

The photograph here was taken by Monica Roberts of California when she called to Hugh's shop a number of years ago. The Diary featured Hugh in a profile in 2008 to mark his 65th year as a shoemaker.
