Ellen is a special scholar

Former CPC student Ellen Kelly of Nicholastown was presented with a Scholars Award at UCD on Wednesday, writes Noel Clare.

The awards were made to first year students who had achieved 540 points or higher in their Leaving Certificate exams. That puts them in the top 4 percent of students in the country—quite an achievement. Ellen is now studying Science at UCD.  

The awards were presented in a packed O'Reilly Hall in UCD with parents and representatives from schools in attendance along with the students.

Ellen is the daughter of Joe (pictured with her above) and Gillian and did her Leaving Cert in Cross and Passion College in 2011.  While in 6th year in CPC she received the Principal's Award for contribution to school life, in recognition of her work and involvement in the school during her six years there.  

A special commemorative plaque was awarded to the school.
