Josh Harty in the BAG

There's a real treat in store in Mick Murphy's, Ballymore Eustace, on Monday night, writes Roy Thompson of the Ballymore Acounstic Gigs. Josh Harty (USA) makes his debut BAG appearance. A rich blend of Americana, country and folk, Josh is both an accomplished guitarst (he covers Richard Thompson tunes—which ain't easy!) and is a soulful singer.

Monday 19th – ROD PICOTT (USA)
Rod Picott is the songs he sings. Since before Woody Guthrie songwriters have soaked their public image in the sepia tones of the working life but Picott bears the real life scars of living that life. Rod Picott's songs are inhabited by sheetrock hangers, drinkers, circus hands, boxers and working girls and he sings about his characters with intimacy. Listening to a Rod Picott album you can smell the gasoline on a mechanics hands and the perfume of lovers in dark corners.

Monday 22nd – BUDDY MONDLOCK & MIKE LINDAUER (USA)
Buddy Mondlock was ‘discovered’ by Guy Clark; his work has been recorded by Garth Brooks, Nanci Griffith, Janis Ian, etc; he’s written and toured with Art Garfunkel. He has serious pedigree and credibility, and he is a Ballymore favourite. He has just released a long-awaited brand new CD, and is joined again by his great friend (and one of the very best fretless-bassists) Mike Lindauer.

Acts in early December: The Lost Brothers (IRL) Dec 3rd; Declan Sinnott (IRL) Dec 10th.
