Cllr calls for broadband improvement
With the emphasis on the need for small enterprises to have efficient broadband access so as to be competitive in business, Cllr Ivan Keatley wants Kildare County Council to assess the broadband situation in the county, writes Brian Byrne.
The Kilcullen-based councillor has tabled a motion for the next Athy Area Meeting asking that KCC compile a list of locations in the county that have poor broadband at the moment.
He suggests that the Council could then use the information to highlight the situation to the Minister for Communications, Energy and Natural Resources and the relevant providers?
"There are many places even in the immediate Kilcullen area where proper broadband isn't available," he told the Diary. "In this day and age, it's like not having electricity was before rural electrification, and it's a situation that needs to be rectified urgently."
At the same meeting, Cllr Keatley will also be asking for the council to improve the road drainage at Halverstown school.
