September in the BAG

A super lineup of acts in Roy Thompson's Ballymore Acoustic Gigs sessions include a mother and son duo roots, bluegrass, a pair of Irish singer-songwriters, and fingerstyle guitar playing.

Jeff and Vida from the USA kick off the month on Monday 3rd, touring with their latest CD 'Selma Chalk'. Their work is edgier, a little bluesier and a little rougher than your typical bluegrass album.

On Monday 10th it's another double act from the US, Sara Grey and her son Kieron Meons. She has a certain quality of voice that compels you to give her your undivided attention, while Kieron Means comes across high and lonesome, with skilful guitar accompaniments.

SJ McArdle and Stewart Agnew make a welcome return visit on Monday 17th. From Drogheda and Dundalk respectively, SJ McArdle released his new album Blood and Bones in  2011. Stewart Agnew emerged in 2011 from his self-imposed musical exile clasping a clutch of AOR masterpieces to his chest in the shape of his third album, 'Hello Bright Spark'.

Richard Gilewitz from the US plays the last Monday, the 24th, with superb fingerstyle guitar playing who delights as much with his stage presence and storytelling as he does with his stunning guitar work.

Acts from October onwards include: Malcolm Holcolme (USA), Kevin Doherty (IRL), Brooks Williams (USA), Maria Doyle Kennedy (IRL), Ben Reel (IRL), Josh Harty (USA), Rod Picott (USA), Buddy Mondlock & Mike Lindauer (USA), and The Lost Brothers (IRL).
