Defibrillator mounted at CU building
The original Kilcullen First Responders group has put its defibrillator in a public location at Kilcullen Credit Union, writes Brian Byrne.
The unit is in a special lockable housing and keys will be available in the Credit Union during opening hours, and with other designated people in due course. It is envisaged that there will eventually be 24-hour access to the unit.
Staff at Kilcullen Credit Union are to undertake training in the use of the system, and it is hoped that a wider range of people working or living in the Main Street area will also be trained over a period of time.
The decision to locate the device at the Credit Union was partly based on the fact that the unit is under 24-hour surveillance from the building's CCTV cameras, which will help to limit the possibility of vandalism.
There are now six defibrillators in permanent locations in Kilcullen. Along with the newly-installed CU one, there's a unit in CPC, two in Kilcullen GAA, one in Kilcullen Family Practice and a fifth in the Kaymed factory.
