Coordination proposal for Seniors

A plan to coordinate the work of groups who help senior citizens in Kilcullen was outlined at the recent meeting of Kilcullen 2017, the implementation group for the community development plan commissioned by Kilcullen Community Action, writes Brian Byrne.

PJ Fagan told the meeting that he was contacting the various groups with a view to setting up an umbrella committee.

He said he was hoping to get two people from each of the groups involved to take part in the initiative.

He made it clear that it wasn't an attempt to take over from the work of the existing organisations, but rather to make sure that no elder person needing support was left out.

"What I really want is to make sure that there is a contact person available for anyone who needs support," he said.

The recent Community Survey on which the Kilcullen 2017 Community Development Plan is based showed that there are around 450 people in the survey area who are aged 65 and over.
