Snow and the railings
On St Patrick's Day 1979 it snowed, writes Jim Collins. Liam Keogh and I had just made the new aluminium railings for the market square.
It was fund-raising time in Kilcullen. A car, which was the first prize in the Lord Mayor Election Draw, was placed on the back of Brennans lorry surrounded by the new railings. With Donal Brennan driving we went in the St Patrick's Day Parade in Newbridge.
It snowed all day and we were frozen on the back of the lorry. Now, 33 years later, we have made a replacement section of the same railings for the square to be put in place this morning. We are covered in snow again.
Who can remember that day? Who was on the lorry? Who sold tickets for the draw? Memories welcome.
