A big thank you from Paul

Paul Byrne Table Quiz

The Table Quiz on Monday night in Bardons for Paul Byrne's summer volunteer programme in Calcutta was a great success, writes Brian Byrne.

More than €700 was raised through the generosity of those who took part, and others who couldn't make it but sent donations. To all of those, Paul says a sincere thank you.

He'd also like to thank Eddie Cross for the use of the venue and his help and support in the event, and Vivian Clarke whose expertise in running Table Quizzes was invaluable in keeping the scoring on track. And Linda, who kept the participants adequately fuelled during their efforts to answer his questions.

In addition, he expresses his appreciation to those who sponsored prizes for the Quiz and the Raffle. These include Bardons Pub, Fallons Restaurant, The Good Food Gallery, Nolans Butchers, the Abbey Theatre, The Dresser Store, and the Irish Film Centre.

Paul leaves for Calcutta in six weeks' time, and will spend three months working as a teaching assistant with disadvantaged children.

The programme is organised by Suas, an Irish NGO that provides these services to local organisations in India and Kenya.
