CPC Jersey Day raises more than €1,000
Jersey Day 2011 in Cross & Passion College raised €1,066 for the GOAL charity, writes Aaron McLoughlin Sutherland.
The event was held on 7 October and all who took part paid €2 for the privilege of wearing their favourite jersey to work or school.
The GOAL non-governmental organisation was founded in 1977 by Evening Press sports journalist John O'Shea. It has spent €536m since in the effort to reduce the suffering of the poorest people in today's world.
As part of our Junior Cert Project for CSPE (Civil Social Political Education) our class group 3H from Cross and Passion College decided to take on the task of Jersey Day 2011. In addition to raising money by wearing our team colours we also raised awareness for people in the developing world.
On behalf of 3H and Cross & Passion College I would like to thank everyone who took part and I hope that next year will be an even bigger success.
