Kilcullen goes to Hollywood

Two Kilcullen girls are part of the Team Ireland group heading off on on July 14 to Hollywood, California, to compete in the World Championships Of Performing Arts.

The 54-strong team members range from age 6-31 years of age and each member will perform in the WCOPA which is now regarded as the Performing Arts Olympics.

Susie Power from Calverstown and Vita Bond from Kilcullen are part of the team, while other participants from County Kildare include Gabrielle Leleu and Aisling Doyle from Naas, Jasmine Brady from Clane, and Orla and Jessica Morris from Toolen.

Six-year-old Susie, who plays 'Eleanor Daly' in the TV soap 'Fair City', and Vita (12) are both students at Kilcullen's Talented Kids Performing Arts School and Agency, run by Maureen V Ward.

There will be over 65 countries taking part in the WCOPA this year. The event includes competitions and workshops in front of agents and managers from show business. In previous years, Irish competitors have gained contracts from their participation.
