Calling Kilcullen for Kilomarathon
There's a call for Kilcullen participation in Ireland's first Kilomarathon, which will take place in Moone and Timolin on Sunday 8 August.
Former Kilcullen resident Sean Cleary is PRO for the event and he has asked running enthusiasts from the town to take part in what will be a record-setting race.
Timolin man Tony Donoghue is the brain behind this new Irish event and Crumlin Childrens’ Hospital will be the major beneficiary of the funds generated. Tony has already collected almost €50,000 Crumlin Childrens’ Hospital and this event will contribute to the refurbishing of St Michael’s and St John’s wards in the Hospital.
The first Kilomarathon in the world took place on March 14th, from Nottingham to Derby in England. This first Irish Kilomarathon will be the second in the whole world.
The winner of the South Kildare Kilomarathon will be the first Irish Record Holder but if the course is completed in a faster time than the ‘Nottingham to Derby’ it will also be the World Record.
