Litter well down this year
The litter situation in Kilcullen has improved enormously, according to the Tidy Towns group with KCA.
And it is largely due to Kildare County Council, says Noel Clare, who leads the Tidy Towns effort in Kilcullen.
"The Council's initiative a couple of years ago, to regularly have a clean-up team in Kilcullen as part of a multi-town pilot programme, has really paid off," he said yesterday.
He was speaking after the group's contribution to National Spring Clean Week, when a team of volunteers went out on Wednesday evening to clean up litter.
"There was nothing like the amount to pick as there used to be," Noel said. "I really must congratulate Kildare County Council for a job very well done. Everybody in Kilcullen appreciates it, and I feel sure that having the town clean has also encouraged people to think before they actually drop litter."
