Fr Paddy is leaving

Kilcullen Parish will have only one priest from July, as Fr Paddy Ryan is leaving.

frpaddyryanFr Paddy came to Kilcullen in July 2007, and, according to the Dublin Diocese, he will not be replaced.

This will mean far-reaching charges in the Parish, the first of which will be significant changes to the Mass schedule from 1 August.

A subgroup of the Pastoral Council is meeting to discuss the implications and will bring forward proposals to deal with them.

The overall significance is that parishioners will have to see themselves in a different light in relation to their Parish, says Fr Michael Murphy PP. "Parishioners will be challenged in a new way to take ownership of and to share responsibility for what the Parish is, namely being the Body of Christ in this place at this time."

He added that when the Parish appreciates that change provides an opportunity for much good to come, it will be 'open to change when it visits'.
