Recalling Gallipoli

With all the recent publicity about Gallipoli and the Irish involvement in that front of the Great War, I think it opportune to remind our readers of this piece published on the Diary in March 2007.

It relates to Patrick Toole, a Private in the the Royal Dublin Fusiliers. He was killed on Friday 11 May, 1915. He was a son of Patrick and Bridget Toole of Kilcullen, according to the official records. He was also the brother of Ray Donoghue's grandfather Michael.
