Church Car Park deal mooted

A proposed deal involving the existing Church Car Park could solve a number of problems relating to the facility, as well as providing the Parish with a source of income.

The deal, with the owner of the adjoining undeveloped property between the car park and the Hideout, would involve the creation of a new 55-spaces Church Car Park behind the Parish House, and give the Parish a 2,800 sq m retail unit within a new development.

In return, the Parish would give the existing car park to the landowner, to facilitate a more efficient use of the combined land.

The existing car park has 70 spaces, but this is both more than required and needs expensive proper surfacing and landscaping, at a cost beyond the resources of the Parish.

Inability to secure the area has also given rise to anti-social behaviour at night. The new car park would be properly surfaced and secure.

Plans for the proposal, which is subject to planning permission, are on view in the Parish Centre. Full details are also on the Parish Website.
