Awards for Nolans sausages
Nolans Victuallers have won several awards at the recent Craft Butchers Sausage & Puddings Competition, judged by the Irish Food Writers Guild.
The long-established Kilcullen business took four gold medals and three silvers in the event, which was the Leinster section.
"We now go into the All-Ireland level," says James Nolan, who emphasises that the credit for the wins goes to the recipe developed by his father Andy, and the work which staff member Fred Mitchell puts into making the sausages.
The awards were for the the firm's ordinary sausage, their Jumbo Sizzler, the black pudding, white pudding, and cheese sausage.
The quality of the sausages and puddings are underpinned by the meticulous way that Andy Nolan puts into the selection and the blending of the indredients for his recipes.
