Help Donncha help Bothar
Bothar is an organisation which does wonderful work in giving hope and some joy to our starving brothers in Africa. They supply to poor families in, for example Tanzania, a cow which will transform their lives.
The recipient family formally agree to pass on to another selected family the first female offspring of this “Gifted” cow. Thus the gift is multiplied and over time many families and even whole communities benefit. The cost of this gift is 1,800 euros. So how can you help?
On Sunday 16th September a sponsored walk, led by Donncha O’Dualing, will take place in Kilcullen. It will start at the Town Hall at 5.30pm, after the All-Ireland Final, and proceed via Old Kilcullen to St. Brigid’s Well. What we would beseech you to do is, collect a sponsorship card from Berney’s Chemist. Get sponsorship for your walk to the amount of 20 euros or 40 euros if possible. If 100 people were kind enough to do this we would be able to send one cow to some poor family in Africa.
Later that evening there is an entertainment in the Town Hall featuring a beautiful comic piece called “Poets in Paradise”. Admission to this event is 10 euros. A full house would allow the purchase of another cow for Africa. So all we need is 100 people who care. I have no doubt that this will present no problem in Kilcullen.
Remember the date Sunday 16th September. Remember the time 5.30 pm.
So after you have watched Kerry V Cork , come down to the Town Hall, with or without your sponsorship card, and walk with myself and Donncha to the Old Kilcullen Round Tower and back to St. Brigids Well. It is amazing to think that such a pleasant community event in Kilcullen could so dramatically change the lives of several families in Africa, parents and children having food and hope for many years. Please Help.
Bernard Berney.
