More on local toll roads

In relation to our recent post about the old toll road from Kilcullen to Carlow, here's another mention of a different one, taken from the Journals of the House of Commons of Ireland, 1800, volume 19, printed by James King and Abraham Bradley King, 1800.

Consideration a Bill to amend an Act passed in the thirty-eighth Year of his Majesty’s Reign, entitled “an Act to explain and reduce into one Act the several Laws for making, improving and repairing the Turnpike Road leading from the City of Dublin to Kilcullenbridge in the County of Kildare and to the twenty-one Mile Stone westward of the said Bridge, and for prolonging the Duration of the Act for repairing the Road from Naas to Limerick, and for the further Improvement of the Road from Kilworth Mountain to the City of Cork;” and after some Time spent therein Mr. Speaker resumed the Chair, and Colonel Barry reported from the Committee that they had gone through the said Bill, and that he was ready to report when the House will please to receive the same. Ordered, that the said Report be now received. Then Colonel Barry accordingly reported that the Committee had gone through the said Bill, Paragraph by Paragraph, without any Amendment. Ordered, that the said Bill be engrossed.

The document is now in the Law Library of Queens University Belfast.

The Diary finds the reference to the 'twenty-one Mile Stone westward of the said Bridge' very interesting, and we wonder if anyone has any information on where that might be?
