Marathon runners ready for off

Runners in the Flora Women's Mini Marathon on behalf of the Punchestown Kidney Research Fund will leave by bus on Monday June 5 from outside the schools on the Curragh Road.

The volunteers, who recently received their tee-shirts and other gear, as well as their competition numbers, from James Nolan, will leave at 11.30am and it would be great if they got a good send-off.

When they get back after the race, there will be a small reception and light measl for them at the Parish Centre.

The race itself begins at 3pm.

At the presentation of gear, Joe Whittaker showed a very good DVD on the work to date of PKRF, which included seeing the first person arriving at the holiday home in Tralee, Co Kerry, which is geared for people on dialysis.

The first person in was a young man from Mayo ,who is on dialysis for 7 years.

The great need for people to carry organ donor cards was stressed.
