Scouts investiture

Some 30 Beavers, Cubs and Scouts were invested at a ceremony in the KARE Centre last weekend.

A number of Leaders were also welcomed to the 9th Scout Troop at their annual investiture. They included Eve O'Leary (above), who is herself a former scout. The others were Christine Southern and Fiona Finn-Spellissy (below with their respective daughters Hannah and Allannah).

In addition, three parents who had helped run the troop during the last year were specially commended for their work by Dick Reade. They were Mary Phelan, Narita Robinson and Elisabeth Smith (below).

The Cub of the Year was named as Emma Birchall (above), and the Scout of the Year was William Carroll.

The First Aid Scout of the Year prize, presented by John Reddy, was won by Craig Roche (above).

Of those invested, 20 were Beavers and seven were Cubs.

In our fashion, the Diary will publish more pictures from the event in coming days.
