Down Memory Lane: The Square
I don't have a date for this picture, but the style of the truck in the square puts it late 40s?
Anyhow, the cattle are being herded to milking by the late Phil Lawlor, and the right-hand one of the pair of houses, which subsequently was remodelled by Dick Dunphy, is one I remember well as where Hannah Purcell lived.
She was a seamstress and dressmaker, and I have vivid childhood memories of being brought there regularly by my mother when she wanted alterations made to her clothes.
With the current redevelopment of The Square, it is nice to have this one, courtesy of John Brady.
