Halverstown school gets funding

St Joseph's National School in Halverstown was one of the lucky recipients of grant money announced last week by the Department of Education.

The school is one of five in the county which will share €1.3 million allocated for the extension and refurbishment of schools in Kildare.

"It is a major expansion of the Small Schools and Permanent Accommodation Scheme. representing twice last year’s allocation,” local representative Senator John Dardis of the Progressive Democrats said when welcoming the allocation

The money will be used by St Joseph's for classrooms extension.

The school last week opened a new library, achieved with help from the parents of the pupils.
