Workshops in Riverbank Centre

Kildare County Council Arts Service is running a series of talks, screenings and workshops in the Riverbank Arts Centre, Newbridge.

Beginning last Friday, the monthly series Temporary Foray is intended to challenge, stimulate and inform current cultural practice, using national and international models from individuals and organisations involved in cutting edge work in Cameroon, England, Finland, Ireland, Italy, Mexico and The Netherlands.

Any person involved or interested in the production, participation and consumption of culture is invited to engage in this process.

According to invited curator Sally Timmons, Temporary Foray is an expedition arranged to supply a passing cultural need. "The forayer or forager leads the way ahead making inroads by rummaging through an existing field."

A catalogue documenting the initiative will be produced. This permanent legacy of Temporary Foray will contain submissions of critical reviews, commentary or artworks. Details of the submission procedure will be available on the Kildare County Council Arts Services web page.

The continuing sessions of Temporary Foray will take place from 11am to 4pm on March 10th, April 7th, May 12th and June 9th 2006. Participation is free of charge. However, early booking for the programme is essential, at Kildare County Arts Service, Riverbank, Main Street, Newbridge.
