Art exhibition includes leading artists

The art exhibition which opened last week at the Riverbank in Newbridge -- A Collection Uncovered -- represents part of Kildare County Council's eclectic assemblage of paintings, prints and sculptures.

Many of the works date from the 1970's when the Arts Council contributed towards the purchase of works of art to promote the work of Irish artists. They include pieces by some of the country's leading artists including Martin Gale, Robert Ballagh, Evie Hone, Brian Bourke and Norah McGuinness.

The entire portfolio is under restoration and a policy for developing the collection is being prepared. The establishment of an on-line catalogue of works in the collection will complement this exhibition.
