League president to open CU building

Kilcullen Credit Union's new building will be officially opened on July 3 by Anne O'Byrne, recently elected as president of the Irish League of Credit Unions.

Anne is pictured below with James Kevins, Monasterevin; Michael Feeley, Mountmellick, then chairman of Chapter Seven of the ILCU; and Pat Goulding, then treasurer of Chapter Seven, ILCU, at a presentation function in 2003 held in Kilcullen Town Hall to mark her election as vice president of the league.

From Blessington Credit Union, Anne is the first woman president in the Irish league's 47-year history. In her election speech, she emphasised that credit unions around the country would be 'staying in their communities' especially in small communities and in disadvantaged areas.

The Credit Union movement has 2.9 million members across the 32 counties.

The opening ceremony will take place at 3pm.
