Silliott Hill waste redevelopment

Kildare County Council is beginning a major redevelopment at the Silliott Hill waste facility on Monday May 16 to turn it into a full Integrated Waste Facility.

The development means there will be no single drop-off point for mixed waste destined for landfill, but instead a series of drop off points for Wood, Flat Glass, Non Recyclable Plastics, Scrap Metal, Green Waste, Domestic Household Rubbish, Electrical Items, Bulk Items, and Household Hazardous Materials.

For users of the site, it means they will now have to completely segregate all waste before disposing of it.

From Monday, this will be done with a series of skips around the facility, and when the development work is completed there will be a similar system but with much larger skips and easier access.

When the development is complete, the recycling operation will be moved to a larger area within the Silliott Hill site.
