5K Walk finishes 'Corina's Weekend' in aid of cancer research

It may have started with a shower, but family and friends of the late Corina Staunton headed off enthusiastically this afternoon for the 5K walk which was the last event in a weekend raising funds for cancer research in her memory, writes Brian Byrne.
And, as expected, the sky cleared pretty quickly as they continued along a route that took them from Kilcullen Community Centre to the Old Carlow Road and around by Yellow Bog, then back by McGarry's Lane with a stop off at St Brigid's Cemetery to pay their respects to Corina, who died in March 2023.
A Golf Classic at the Rathsallagh Golf & Country Club on Friday, kicking off the fundraising, was very successful with 35 teams taking part. And an evening later in O'Connell's Bar was also very well supported.
The funds raised from this second 'Corina's Weekend' will go once again to the Cancer Care Research Trust.
