Badminton update

Another busy week for KBC and we start the report with Murt and his Grade 2 Men who played away Portlaoise Mens 2A. Murt and the lads needed to get back on a winning streak after loosing to Portlaoise Mens 2B in the same venue the week before. After a shaky start the lads got back on track and beat their opponents 3-1 keeping themselves in second spot and putting some distance between themselves and the group chasers. The Rags currently sit in second place on 16 points but Port 2B have 3 matches in hand, but are certain to drop points against table toppers Country Club.

Lynsey and her Division 2 Mix 1 team had their first Dublin District League outing when they visited Ailsbury, Lynsey and the team needed to bounce back after a crushing 3-1 defeat in the cup to An Caislean Nua. In true Rags style Lynsey, Lorraine, Gareth and Declan left Ailsbury stunned with a fantastic 4-0 win, well done to the gang on a great first league win.

Chelsey and the Division 4 Mix 4 team also left the home comforts of the complex on Thursday night when they travelled to Rathfarnham in their first DDL match. Chelsey and the gang had also had crashed out of the cup after a defeat to ESB and wanted to get their league off to a winning start and they did it in style. Taking full points from this match the KBC mix team took all four points beating Rathfarnham 4-0. Well done Chelsey, Bernie, Martin and Vincent.

Jen's Division 6 Mix 6 started their cup run againist Ashbourne at home in the complex on Friday 13 November, but luckily it was unlucky for the Ashbourne team. After Tara and John won their singles, it was Enda and John that finished the cup tie with a convincing two set win in the mens doubles. So it was a 3-0 win for the KBC side and an invite to the next round of the cup. Well done Jen (who didn’t even get her runners on!), Tara, John and Enda.

Finally Kat and her ladies were hosting Johnswell of Kilkenny in their final league match in the South West League. Kat and her team have already secured a place in the final with some excellent and solid performances and have only been beaten once in their league campaign. In another fine performance Kat, Mari, Catherine and Emer defeated Johnswell 3-1 in a great match. Congrats and well done to the girls in being the first KBC team this season in making a SWL final.
