Progress on Dun Ailinne signage
In connection with the Dun Ailinne Commemorative Project at Nicholastown, a meeting last night progressed further the interpretative sign which will be part of the site.
The sign is being designed by Michelle Ryan of Lui na Greine and information about Dun Ailinne has been collated by Des Travers.
Last night's meeting included a wide-ranging discussion on the format of the sign and making further information on the ancient royal site available through a website, and possibly a permanent display in the Heritage Centre.
The sculpture, based on an ancient javelin head found during excavations at Dun Ailinne, has been completed by local artist Noel Scullion and will be erected shortly. It will be four metres high.
The sign for the commemorative project is being funded by the Heritage Council.
