St Brigid's Well vandalised

St Brigid's Well in Kilcullen's Valley Park has been badly vandalised with paint.

The edifice, which was sculpted by the late Fr Henry Flanagan OP of Newbridge College, was officially unveiled in 1977, and has been a focal point of the Valley Park ever since.

The vandals used green paint to deface the figures of the sculpture, as well as to obscure the commemorative plaque. In addition, a swastika and outline naked breasts have been drawn on the figures.

The Valley Park has consistently been a target for vandals since it was opened. Work began on the park in 1975, and the vast bulk of funds raised for the property's purchase and development came from community involvement in many events and schemes.
